Packing headache...

Ok so I am a total procastinator. I started packing last night using a large Nike duffel bag (not very chic for travelling its the biggest carry on bag I own!).

These questions kept popping in my head:

- Should I just whip out the large suitcase and check it in? But I hate checking in and I hate lugging the suitcase on the metro to DCA!
- But bigger suitcase means more clothes options...
- Also I know I'm going to go shopping!
- But I'm only going to be there for 2 weeks!
- Ack how many dresses to bring? I have too many! It's so hard to chose!
- Oh crap I need clothes for the beach, the city, and to go out at night! Crap, crap!
- If I don't check anything, won't I have to anyways for the return trip because of the stupid no liquids of any sort rule...
- Oh crap does my mom have a hair straightener?
- What products do I bring? I'm going to get burned if I don't bring any sunblock!
- Wait...if I bring any of my sunblock products I will HAVE to check it in! CRAP.
- what shoes do I bring? I need beach shoes, wedding shoes, city walking shoes...
- I need to pack the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe that can be used for all sorts of occasions...
- maybe I should just use the small bag so I make sure that I don't shop too much...

It's a jumbled mess in my head...and it doesn't help that I have a million other things to do tonight aside from packing. BLAAAAARGH.

Flats, Flats, and Flats!

In my curiosity to find out where I rank on google if one searched for "ballerina flats" I stumbled upon the site http://www.prettyballerinas.com/, initially I thought they made actual ballet shoes but was happily surprised to see a great selection of everyday flats!!!

It is apparently a very old European company that has been making shoes in 1918.

Site info:

Pretty ballerinas, ballet pumps, ballet flats and other quality flat shoes.

We have been making ballet flats since 1918 and some models have remained unchanged for over 40 years. The fouth generation of the family business has just appeared in our catalogue and we still make 100% the shoes in the village where we started business all those years ago.

Each shoe shape has the name of a famous lady - we started with icons of the silver screen from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s and have moved on to famous ladies in the world of fashion, music and more contempory film stars.

This means when you buy Marilyn in a size 39 (a 9 US) this season, a Marilyn in 39 will fit you just the same next season.

The shoes are sized in continental sizes for those of you who already shop in our stores in London, Madrid and Paris. To convert to US just subtract 30, so a 37 is a US7 and a 40 is a US10.

IT'S EXPENSIVE THOUGH. You might be better off getting a pair of Delmans or Repetto.

Let's Keep it Simple and Clean

Bloch London Women's Savoy Bow Ballet Flat

available on http://wwww.amazon.com/ for $131.88.

Most of the reviews for Bloch flats have been incredibly favorable and the only complaint has been that some of rolled up flats are smaller sized than expected (its been recommended to get 2 sizes up from your normal shoe size).

This particularly pair really captured my attention on a Monday (i've got  a case on the munday blues) because of its simplicity. There is a mix of both patent and matte leather and the bow is a nice detail on a very clean looking shoe.

Trip Packing!

Late next week I'll be off for some much needed R&R and to attend my best friend's wedding! I've been looking forward to this trip for such a long time and I just realized now that I have barely began thinking of what to pack aside from one dress that I know I'll be wearing to her bachelorette party.

It's going to be ridiculously hot since the wedding will be at the beach but escaping the cold DC weather right now is a God send!

So far I know I'm going to bring:

- 2 swim suits (1 one piece, 1 bikini)
- shorts
- tank tops
- gladiator sandals
- one pair of black flats (?)
- skinny jeans
- dresses
- leggings
- light jacket

I'm in a quandry on what dresses to bring because I have too many that I want to wear in the heat. I guess thats a good problem to have though! hehe...
