I WANT THIS NOW!!
Here's is a beautiful etsy creation that I want. I want like right now.
The current flavor of the moment is silk stripes...specifically stripes that look these...or even chunkier. That works too.
But its $178. And I just can't justify the buy *sniff*
So I'll have to settle for wanting...and drooling for now.

Interview with Twilight Bag designer
My love for all things etsy and Twilight are combined! Stumbling onto the store of Angie from Stitch and Swash, I went head over heels for the beautifully crafted leather goods that she's created! As it so happens, this talented designer also has one of her bags featured in Twilight!
Stitch and Swash is based in Seattle and I'm really happy that the movie's wardrobe department supported local Washington designers (for those who aren't aware, the novel Twilight tells the story of vampires who reside in Forks, Washington and the movie was filmed in various parts of Washington and Oregon!)

Q. What's the story of how your bag made it to the movie blockbuster movieTwilight?
awhile back I was contacted by a props manager about making a duplicatefor a bag of mine she had purchased at a local boutique in Seattle. I sawthat she was working on the movie 'Twilight', but had no idea what it was. it wasn't until my sister told me about the books, and I started seeingtrailers for the movie that I realized how excited people were for thisfilm to come out. I still didn't think my bag was going to have much bigscreen time, so I didn't sit down and watch the movie until the weekend itcame out on dvd.
Q. What did it feel like when you saw your design on the big screen withmillions of people all over the world seeing it as well?
I actually never got to see my bag on the big screen! just the smallscreen at my house, but that was completely satisfying to me. when Iwatch movies, I am always subconsciously looking at everyone's bag. Iloved seeing something I made on film, I thought my mom would be proud.
Q. What is the inspiration behind designing the Bella bag?
the bag Bella uses was a large tote I designed a year or so ago. I wasgetting a lot of request for a large bag, so this was a bigger version ofmy original tote, with an aqua peacock feather.
Q. What kind of impact on your business and life has having your creationfeatured in Twilight?
having my bag in Twilight has impacted me greatly. for one, I haven't hada day off (or even more than a few hours) since I started offering the bagon my etsy site! it's been keeping me super busy, and has kind of takenover my life. last night I dreamt about hammering rivets. what I'm mostexcited about is a new crop of people seeing my work, and being introducedto etsy.
Q. How did you first start designing bags and leather goods and what inspired you to use recycled leather as a material? Any advice to give to would be designers out there?
even though I have been sewing since I was very young, I just startedmaking leather bags in the last couple years. I started with really simpledesigns, just trying to learn how to work with leather, buying a lot ofproducts and materials to test out. learning a new craft is half the fun.my advice would be to not get discouraged when you're trying somethingnew. ask a lot of questions, experiment, brainstorm. some of my firstbags I made were horrible - really bad. but I asked questions at theleather store, checked out a bunch of books, bought tools I didn't knowwhat to do with, googled a ton - and things started to come together.

etsy designer: FINCH
I came across this etsy shop last Thursday and I couldn't stop myself from staring and lusting after these gorgeous pieces. It's one of those moments when you ask yourself, do I really have $$$ to spare so I can buy all these beautiful things?
Finch is created by Petro Nieuwoudt who is based out of Cape Town, South Africa. She graduated in 2008 from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology with a degree in fashion. She also works are a freelance stylist and designer.
Nieuwoudt's etsy statement about her designs:
Finch Spring/Summer `09 brings a couture sensibility to the contemporary customer, seeking to narrow the gap between designer and contemporary clothing. Inspired by a mix of downtown and uptown, masculine and feminine, casual and smart, the Finch collection is unique in the mixture of androgynous menswear inspired waistcoats and shirts with delicate mini-dresses, feminine detailing and unusual fabrics. The collection ranges from wardrobe basics to bespoke, while dramatic black and pure white becomes the protagonists of a new modernity and forms the primary colour palette. With a nod towards something edgy, and a distinct 80`s love-worn, rock `n roll undertone…
This is what made my jaws drop when I first saw it. *swooooooon*

my etsy want of the day

Jackie Alvo is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, with a bachelor’s degree in fashion design, my design esthetic is inspired by everything I see, hear, and read, usually translated in to hip, modern, clean designs that work with the fabric's natural properties.
She has a number of pieces that I would love love to purchase (perhaps with my tax refund? haha!) includign a cowl neck sweater dress and a wonderful ultra-light weight jacket.

have i already mentioned...
how obsessed i am about etsy? :)
i love hunting for handcrafted pieces that are one of a kind! its personally incredibly thrilling. speaking of which i just bought a dress today (it's so pretty!) and i'll have to post a picture once I receive it in the mail.
it may sound silly but online browsing (and at times online shopping hehe) has been a huge refuge amidst the busy-ness of my life. in between work, studying for gre's, freelance writing, and other projects my brain is more often than not ready to open a can of whoop-ass on me. there's something very calming and just relaxing about looking at pretty things...though my pocket book would not agree!
upon my etsy browsing though it's really helped me think of my own style and what i tend to go for in my choice of clothing. my ideal wardrobe would consist of having lots of solids in my favorite colors: black, gray, white, navy, brown, green, purple/plum...*you get the idea* but with really terrific necklines, interesting structure, and great fabrics! over the past few months thanks to ASJINE (which sadly closed shop sniff...) i've started to pay attention to the structure and fabrics of my clothes! it was a great revelation that i actually have a real sense of what kind of clothes i wanna wear. that ive aptly thought of as minimalist, feminine, versitile, and modern.
my idea of crossing clean japanese zen-ness with soft romantic feminine lines and draping.
here's today's finds:
if i had more $$$ these babies would all be ready to be shipped to my address. one day soon...
