Ballet Flats

Ballet Flat from Antik Batik

On sale for $69 available at http://yoox.com/ (oringinally $95)

They look incredibly comfortable don't they? When I saw this shoe, it was lust at first sight. A great interpretation of how ballet flats would be if they were meant purely to strut in. The picture isn't that great, but the material is quite sparkly.

The only sizes left are in 7's and 9's so best hurry up and purchase a pair!!!

Life has also been busy which is why I've unfortunately had to pause the blogging for most of the week.

I am though going to be giving away a great new product to a lucky reader so STAY TUNED!!!!!

On an unrelated note, I've been talking to different people about what they want to do with their lives and it's been a pretty common theme throughout my peers in our 20s. Most of us are seemingly still trying to figure it all out still. Yesterday I read this great entry from a DC blogger who recently quit her job. It was a scary plunge to give up that financial security, and it feels even more heightened in this economy. But I've gotta give her an applause, it took guts and bravery to get passed that scary aspect and to be free of something that she really didn't enjoy.

Hollyould Flats

I love surfing Stylebakery (stylebakery.com) for high/low products that can be found online and one of the editors swore by these classic ballet flats from Hollywould. She claimed that as much as she's worn hers frequently for the past SIX years they still look good as new!
Being a frequent wearer of ballet flats myself I thought I'd check out this potentially great investment into my collection.

They come in a variety of different collors, mostly in a cool metallic sheen and are available in 2 styles - the Hepburn which is more classic and the Audrey which was a dip towards the middle of the shoe. Possibly named after Kate and Audrey Hepburn 2 classic style icons.

(above) Black Hepburn Ballet for $195

Soft Italian leather and matching grosgrain-trimmed upper. Leather sole studded with rubber "driving" tread. 15mm heel. Removable matching grosgrain ankle-tie and reinforced heel. Please note your leather ballets run true to size, and the soft leather will stretch; so you want a snug first fit.

(above) Silver Audrey Ballet $195

Every true Hollywould fan has at least one pair of ballets in her footwear arsenal. But this interpretation of the classic elevates the style with a graceful d'Orsay style. Please note your leather ballets run true to size, and the soft leather will stretch; so you want a snug first fit.

I'm going to have to do some digging to see if these are worth the $$!

Textured woven and stitched raffia upper in a casual ballet-inspired slip-on Mary Jane style with a round toe. Gleaming patent overlays at the toe and heel and a flexible elastic trimmed collar and a matching patent and elastic Mary Jane style instep strap with a patent button embellishment add depth and dimension. Soft leather lining and cushioned logo insole, flat traction outsole, 1/4 inch heel.

available at shoes.com for $200. (oh yes i'll be eagerly awaiting when these go on sale!)
i love that this is still a two-tone shoe but it's not just any old plain two-tone shoe. the texture really does make it more interesting and unique. perfect for summer? I think so!

Dr. Scholls makes shoes! Who knew...

yes thats right! Dr. Scholls, seller of foot care products that we all know and love actually produces shoes as well.

The wise wikipedia notes:

Brown Shoe Company, Inc. is a $2.5 billion footwear company with worldwide operations. The company operates the 1000-store Famous Footwear chain. It also operates 400 Naturalizer stores in the U.S. and Canada. Brown Shoe's wholesale divisions own and market leading footwear brands including Naturalizer, Fx LaSalle(Canada), LifeStride, Connie, Buster Brown; it also markets licensed brands including Via Spiga, Franco Sarto, Etienne Aigner, Dr. Scholl's and Carlos by Carlos Santana for adults, and Barbie, Spider-Man and Bob-the-Builder character footwear for children.

while most of their shoes were not to my taste, there were 2 that I actually liked! The price is also very reasonable.

i love the bright red ribbon and how it contrasts with the blue and white stripes. this shoe is versatile and would go lovely with any regular work outfit or for a more relaxed weekend as well.
