Obsessed with Octopus

On the last business trip, scored this fantastic little necklace that I've been obsessed with.

I've been reading Gail Carriger's Heartless and the frequent references to octopus have gotten me obsessed with them now. While I've seen lots of jewelry featuring spiders, birds, and other sorts of animals but nothing quite as awesome as the octopus. It's been such a fun conversation piece starter as well that I've been wearing it nearly every day this week!

Isabella Wolf-Fang Necklace

This wolf-fang necklace is named for Isabella, the queen consort of Edward II of England in the 14th century. Edward was a poor ruler, leading Isabella and her lover to overthrow him and place her son on the throne. She became known to the English as "the She-Wolf of France."

This piece is brought to you by the ultra-talented Wendy Brandes! I was reading her blog when I came across this piece and clicked on the link to her online store! It was particularly fun to read that the not only is the necklace called "Isabella" but with the little history note that she was the queen consort of "Edward II". Now all Twilight fans know of course how she is torn between Edward the vampire and Jacob the WOLF! Jacob even gives her a charm of a little wolf as a gift!!!

So how fitting is this beautiful piece as a gift for any Twilight fan? PERFECT I tell you!

another beautiful find!

Here is another beautiful etsy find that has gotten me cuckoo over jewelry right now. I love love love love love the turquoise blue eggs!!!

L contends that it is too woodsy. It may be a bit more Lord of the Rings than Breakfast at Tiffanys but still, the worksmanship is still pretty amazing. This will definitely be for those days when I'm feeling like Arwen Ellesidil.

At $48 it's also relatively priced!

Why haven't I bought this yet? Because I just bought a cashmere cardigan on sale yesterday at Club Monaco. Hehehe whoops. It was the very last piece and in my size! It cost only $40!!! Well, ok sure it was only 15% cashmere and 85% cotton but still...it was cozy.

On a side note I've been scouring the the net trying to find a new flat that I can be really excited off. No such luck. My regularly frequented sites have just been disappointing. always lots of great staples out there, but nothing jumping out saying "blog me!"

but with the holidays coming up, I'm expecting some fancy flats to start appearing. oh woe is my wallet....
