Random observation, but I'm beginning to suspect that if you act in the Twilight movies, your bound to dress similarly to each other =P

Not a complaint since though I love how most of them dress. But above is Dakota Fanning in Vancouver from last Sunday. She is wearing black tights, a stripped bubble shirt, and BLACK LEATHER JACKET. How many actors playing vamps in this film have been seen wearing a leather jacket at least once? I'd have to say all the Cullens except Elizabeth Reaser (who has been out of the paps shutters for the most part so far!).

I'd say the personal styles of the actors all work with me except for Cameron Bright who's red reflective sun glasses are ehm...and the shirt is way to big.

Anyways it's officially hump day! hoorah!

simple sunday

This is Sienna Miller getting out of LAX. I really love her jeans and flats combo. For awhile I didn't think that folding up skinny jeans that are too long would look any good but she's changed my mind. It looks great on her and of course I love her black jacket. This is an outfit that I would gladly wear any day.

One of my favorite vampires! :) Ashley Greene along with the rest of the twilight vamps (and vamps to be) have my favorite outfits. I love her grey and black combo with bright red toes!!! Honestly, every time I see pictures of any of my favorite cool kids I can't help but think how awesome and cool they all look. While they can all dress up and look fantastic glammed up, they seem to be most comfortable in a pair of cool jeans, a great top, and a killer jacket. Mmmm all after my own heart!

'Twilight': How Bella and Edward Got Their Look

DRESSING BELLA

''I wanted to dress Bella (Kristen Stewart) apart from the Forks kids because she arrives there as an outsider [from Arizona],'' explains Twilight's costume designer, Wendy Chuck. ''She's in lots of warm earth tones, with some Southwestern elements thrown in.'' Being the new girl in school wasn't the only obstacle Bella faced: ''Having come from a warm, sunny climate to the rainy gloom of Forks, we wanted to make her unprepared for the cold and the rain.'' Which is why, Chuck explains, we don't see Bella in a raincoat until later on in the tale.

DRESSING EDWARD

In order to dress Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) in a manner befitting the teen idol that author Stephenie Meyer envisioned, Chuck says she turned to the royals of the early 19th century: ''His name personifies his look, which to me was English Edwardian. He's the embodiment of an Edwardian gentleman — very proper, has manners, and is very charming.'' The vampire's clothes weren't all inspired by history, though. As Chuck points out, ''He wears a pair of shoes that are lace-up and of the early 1900s, but then he also wears more current sporty clothes.''

EDWARD'S PEA COAT

''Everybody wants to know where his pea coat came from!'' exclaims the costumer. Unfortunately, it is a one-of-a-kind piece (er, sort of: three to four were made for filming purposes) which Chuck herself crafted after not being able to find the perfect one. ''We needed the right fit, [and] I couldn't find anything in the right shade of gray,'' she recalls. ''Catherine [Hardwicke, the director] is really big on back story for her characters and anything that can help that, even if it's in a texture or color of clothes.'' After considering ''probably 20 swatches,'' Chuck went with one from Mood Fabrics and based her final design on a combination of other styles of pea coats. In the end, his turned out as ''a classic shape with a modern twist.''

BELLA'S BROWN HOODIE

During the pivotal parking lot scene, Bella wears a hoodie by Nordstrom store brand Rubbish and mittens by Ruth Cross — a conscious choice by Chuck to not use designer brands: ''My look is always character-based and not fashion-based. It's really easy to get over-stylish, and I felt that Bella in particular had to be anchored in the real world.''

BELLA'S CREAM THERMAL

Filming in Washington during the winter months meant dealing with icy temperatures, so nestled under Bella's brown hoodie were lots of layers, including this long-sleeved cream top. The thermal, by Curious Gypsy, had thumbholes on the sleeve, making it ''a bit unusual and different,'' notes Chuck.

BELLA'S BLUE JACKET

The cargo jacket by Jack BB Dakota wasn't actually supposed to appear in Twilight. ''I was planning to use the brown hoodie for that sequence, but the director of photography hated the fact that her hair and the jacket were both brown and felt she got lost in it,'' says Chuck, who then made a last-minute run to outlet store Nordstrom Rack to hunt for a replacement. ''I literally brought that blue one on set just before they rolled cameras. Then Catherine said, 'Wendy saved the day!' That made me a hero.'' Good news for fans: Because of its massive popularity, the newly dubbed ''Twilight'' jacket will be reissued in July for $84. Check back with BB Dakota for store listings.

BELLA'S ACCESSORIES

As Bella's feelings for Edward change, careful viewers may notice a shift in her wardrobe, as well: ''Her sense of style becomes less tomboy and more feminine,'' Chuck says. ''So rather than go wildly feminine because she was always wearing pants, that really left me to find some pieces that had a little feminine touch.'' (This particular embroidered top is by Lucky Brand.) Also adding to the girly quotient were Bella's accessories: a moonstone ring (which, as Chuck recalls, was made by the props department), a headband (another custom creation), and a delicate turquoise bracelet, which was ''something that we were to think her mom gave her,'' adds the costumer who found the original cuff in L.A. and had six copies made to fit Stewart's tiny wrist.

DRESSING THE CULLEN FAMILY

Chuck had to pay special attention when mapping out clothes for the blood-sucking Cullen brood. ''I didn't want to go too traditional black... I wanted them to feel cold and frozen.'' So she outfitted the family in grays, whites, and blues, while being careful to not go too over-the-top. ''The Cullens have wildly expensive taste and money. At the same time, I had to anchor them in the practical world of going to school and being able to blend with everyone else.''


MORE ON THE CULLENS...AND THAT CREST

Along with a blazer from GUESS, Rosalie (Nikki Reed, left) wears a scarf (which Chuck remembers as Forever 21) and a Cullen crest necklace made by the props department. ''When I first met Catherine, I presented the idea that the Cullens should have a crest that they would wear in different ways,'' the costumer says. ''It's a very old-world thing to do.'' Alice (Ashley Greene), who's also sporting a smaller version of the family crest around her neck, wears a lace cardigan from Anthropologie. ''She's kooky and very artistic, so it was important to throw texture and layers on her, and for her to wear things in unusual ways.''

BELLA'S PROM DRESS

Knowing all eyes would be on Bella's prom look, Chuck had to choose carefully. The bolero was a vintage piece that she cut, restyled, and re-sequined. The dress was a little more serendipitous: ''It was miracle find!'' exclaims Chuck, who picked up the Max and Cleo silk dress at discount store Ross — and for $20. (Fun fact: Chuck also purchased the only other one left in the store so she could use the extra material to create one long dress. But, in the end, she left the dress as-is, using the second for a photo double.) ''I always say I channel clothes, I don't necessarily design them — it's divine sometimes the way it happens!''

My favorite vampire

Yay for Rob's hair growing back!!!!!! :) Most of the Twilight cast are in Vancouver now filming NEW MOON. Juan Antonio Bayona has allegedly been confirmed to direct ECLIPSE (third book) of the series. Bayona is called the protoge of Guillermo del Toro who directed Hell Boy, Hell Boy 2, and Pan's Labyrinth. Check out info on his film: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Orphanage_(film). off post: Ahh I am still geeking out.

Before there was Twilight, I was already addicted to Roswell. Come on, opening sequence using Dido's "Here with Me" how can one NOT like it? I agree that Roswell was better acted, but after season 2, the writing in the series just went down for me. When it moved to UPN, I barely watched it after weird storylines that didn't really go with the original substance of the series.

One of my many random musings the past few days on the metro ride into work has been what has been the appeal for me with the character Bella. Most people talk about how she's very relatable because of that insecurity you go through in high school but personally it's also been her isolation. As an only child of a broken home I see how alone one gets in a home setting. I think a part of her wanting to become a vampire isn't just to be with Edward, but to also gain a new more permanent family where she can finally get acceptance and a sense of belonging. I don't remember if the author ever talked about whether Bella had any close friends in Phoenix, but it doesn't seem like it when all whom she ever talked to was her mom.

M and I finally chatted last night and she is also hooked on Twilight. Hehe I knew it! After all she was the one who introduced Anne Rice to me way back in middle school.

On a related vampire note, I read today that Guillermo del Toro will be doing a vampire epic movie! I'm incredibly incredibly excited!

This is probably old news...

but I had no idea that Edward ALMOST had long hair in the movie! Ick...the 8th Cullen is Edward's HAIR!!! To think it could have been long would have been really old school movie vampire cliche.

What was the process for creating the various characters’ looks?
Catherine Hardwicke, the director, and I have previously worked together on a movie called "Lords of Dogtown," so we know each other very well. I began by preparing sketches of my vision, keeping in mind the descriptions Stephanie Meyer (Twilight’s Author) set forth in the books.

Bella’s (Kristen Stewart’s character) description in the novel is very pale and extremely beautiful with large chocolate brown eyes, so she wore colored lenses every day. I also pictured her as a natural beauty, which is exactly what Kristen is. I used a light hand while applying all neutral colors to make her look as though she had no makeup on.

Edward’s (Robert Pattinson’s character) description in the novel is impossibly handsome almost god-like. His skin is marble-pale, hard as stone and ice cold, but perfect and flawless. Edwards’ eyes are described as topaz colored when he is normal and black like onyx, when hungry.

Were there any changes to the looks of the characters that weren’t planned?
At the beginning, Catherine Hardwicke visualized Edward with long hair [Kristen's note: NO!!!!], yet after studying his face and jaw line in the makeup test, the decision was made to go with short hair to accentuate his amazing jaw line.

So over the past few weeks since I first picked up Twilight and saw the movie, this crazy weird obsession I have following these two actors have finally made sense to me.

Of all of Hollywood out there and typically on the celeb blog circuit like Perez, Just Jared, d-listed, and X-17 you always see the same super trendy, too tanned, wearing the same thing over and over and over again look thats boring. Don't get me wrong, sure they'll still look great in what they're wearing, but come on! All the Disney girls look the same! (ashley, vanessa, demi, selena, miley).

But Rob and Kristen, they are like a breathe of wonderful fresh air!!!!!! I love love love love Kristen's look. She's just in jeans and a shirt, but damn how does she look so edgy? (this is my opinion of course)

If you compare her style of clothing to Natalie Portman's, they both wear jeans, they're both skinny brunettes, and yet Kristen just looks cool in a different sort of way. With her crazy messy hair and yet looks perfect the way it is, her lack of make up flying into LAX, her converse all-stars, and dark eyeliner!

more on twilight

So I saw the movie this weekend and what can I say...it was incredibly reminiscent of Episode II in awful acting. The unfortunate part is that most of the actors are really good actors! Robert Pattinson was good as Cedric Diggory in HP4, Kristen Stewart was good as Jodie Foster's daughter in Panic Room, and Nikki Reed was good in Thirteen!!!

Director Catherine Hardwicke did a great job directing Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown!

But there was way way way way too much overacting. It was hard to watch at moments.

Was it the screenplay? Did the screenwriter just not do a great job with translating the book into something that would work for film?

I have to give credit to all the Harry Potter movies because they did a pretty great job in making the movies satisfying.

All in all, Twilight the movie was what I expected it to be. It was by far not amazing, but I think it was still a treat to see these characters being played out.

So I finished New Moon last night and started reading Eclipse and so far I'm not really bothered by things I've read that other people are annoyed about. Maybe its because I was just itching to find out what happened next. So far I'm guiltly enjoying myself and stayed up way too late reading. :) Ahhh but despite predictability I have become invested in the characters.

Because of the $70+ million dollar success of Twilight's opening weekend, Summit Entertainment is option for New Moon to be made into a movie as well. Will I go see it? Probably...why? Cuz no matter how bad the acting and dialogue is, it's still fun to see the characters come to life.

ON FASHION:

I was all for the wadrobe they gave Edward, I think he was the best dressed out of all the characters in the movie. He was wearing a varied shades of blue and grey! One of my favorite color schemes and a particularly great alternative to black. There were some good jackets as well: nice grey short peacoat with the collar flipped up and the dark navy cotton jacket he wore during the hospital hallway scene. I like too that they had him wear button ups, knit shirts, and jeans.

They did do a bit color scheme matchy-matchy with the cullens. Tho I did like that, perhaps a TAAAAAD overdone tho :) But all the cullens were wearing varied shades of blue, grey, and white. It was a nice way to highlight the grayness of the Pacific Northwest.

Bella's clothes were good for her character, very very plain and ordinary. The dress above is probably the fanciest thing she wore, being it was for prom. Though I don't think that 17 year old girls should have necklines that plunge so much.

But what I did like about the rest of how the highschoolers were dressed were the way you'd expect them to be!

ok so I apologize that I didn't pay attention to the clothes as much as I thought I was going too, I was trying really hard not to laugh out loud too much =P

I promise my next post will take a more indepth look at the costumes of the Cullens and the other characters of the movie (aka, another reason for me to distract myself and look at pretty movie stills. hahaha!)

So I finally jumped on the bandwagon and read Twilight this weekend. What can I say, but I'm hooked! I really liked the dialogue that Stephanie Meyer had in the first book, so I've heard that the rest of the series is not as good, I'm looking forward to indulging myself in some guilty reading.

I'm aiming to catch the movie tonight and haven't quite decided whether or not the actors are a good fit to play Edward and Bella. I will though be paying attention to the clothes in the movie!

I'm digging this grey peacoat against the blue collared shirt! It goes great with his vampire pale skin and crazy copper colored hair. Yes this is a crappy image, but I'm sure there will be better ones as the week progresses.

And just for fun, here's an image in the latest issue of INSTYLE where they do a great spread on Twilight and its characters. I think Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart look FANTASTIC in this picture! But thats how I like my vampires, elegant and dangerous looking. =P
