Barbara Bui Ballet Flats

There are so many things I like about this flat: cap toe, strap, stitching details and the CUT OUTS. There is nothing like cut outs to make a shoe more interesting - flat or heeled. But at $275 from yoox.com its not exactly cheap. Here's hoping that another company makes a cheaper alternative. I'm looking at you: Aldo, Bakers, Bandolino, Nine West...

New shoes: Prep ankle flats

There comes a moment when you think, ahh this is meant to be. When I come across a shoe that I've been stalking online for a long long long time on sale in my size, I get that split second of feeling as if there was divine intervention that I should be united with this pair. That happened today with these BC prep ankle flats that were on clearance at DSW.

These normally cost $60 but today I got it for $36.

AWESOME.

Grey Mary Jane Pumps

Practical is the word that comes to mind first when I look at this pair of shoes. There's always an internal battle that rages inside me between being drawn to very simple minimalistic shoes (as well as clothes and other accessories) versus the very romantic/flowly/printed out/embellished pieces that I find beautiful. This pair though would all mainly in the minimal category but I think would make such a great work shoe. The glittering metalic strap that gives enough embellishment that doesn't make this completely a plain jane affair.

It costs £22.00 from Dorothy Perkins (they ship internationally!)

I've mentioned in another blog post that DP has a great selection of flats. They still do!

Xmas Shoe Wish List: Lizabeth Ankle Wrap Patent Flats

day starts my too long of a "I'd love to have this for Christmas" list of shoes. Featured in this post is the Joseph Griffin Lizabeth Ankle Wrap flats seen in black patent above. This is ridiculously awesome in multiple ways.
  1. Patent - means it will last longer in the rainy days of DC
  2. T-strap - as I have been obsessed with t-straps for nearly a year now, thats all sorts of goodness
  3. Ankle wrap - my newest obsession which works extremely well during the winter season (need to keep those ankles warm after all hehe)
  4. Tie - and you can also have a ribbon on this? YES.
  5. Multiple Colors - comes in black, brown, navy, and red
But yes, AWESOME shoe. It is available at http://www.endless.com/ for $120 (eep!!!) Yea not exactly cheap, but thats why its on my oh I wish someone would buy this for me for christmas list. Incidently, the red is available for $98.52 and the navy for $109.16. I would personally opt for the navy for the discount, but still I'm naturally drawn to all things black.

Oh Santa, please please get this for me!

Jungle Fever T-strap flat

It's been awhile since I posted about a flat mainly because I haven't found anything really worth mentioning. But lo and behold at 2:03 am, on a typical Friday morning I find these beauties!

gorgeous no? Here is the product description:

  • Features yellow patent contrast
  • Satin fabric/patent outer
  • Rubber sole

  • My favorite part has got to be the yellow straps! This definitely is not your common shoe!

    Sale alert: J.Crew

Till saturday you can get an extra 20 % off at jcrew with code EXTRA20.

Here are my favorite flats from their sale section:

These two above are my top picks because of their versatility. The yellow is a fantastic color that can be easily worn with my fave colors black and white, for both a night out on town and for a weekend errand. The peeptoe is so much like the shoes Charlize Theron was wearing when she was on a night out (that I previously blogged about). Patent continues to grow on me because in rainy DC I could use all the help I can get with shoes that are made out of sturdier stuff.

Which is not a surprise then that these final 2 are also patent! hehehe...

The first is a classic flat, easily worn for work or for play. As my mother knows I am a huge fan of the maryjane. I love the stitching details on the gray maryjane that makes this shoe more interesting and put together.

Now, if I only had more $$$ to buy all of them...

On a completely unrelated note, after chatting with a friend today I realize that my non-essential expenditures mostly revolve around clothes, shoes, accessories, and toiletries/makeup.

Though while I spend more frequently on girly stuff, I make sure its as frugal as possible. I endure buyers remorse more often than not if I make a purchase over $100. Though this year I have allowed myself to be a little more flexible and spent on some quality investment pieces.

This year's majority of moolah was spent on traveling, educational investments, and of course giving the government more money. =P

With 2008 almost over, I'm back to saving...and eagerly waiting for christmas money to come in. hehehhehe

who says you can only wear heels for a night out?

Heels or not to heels, that is the question....

There are the advantages --- being taller (especially for us vertically challenged gals), elongating legs, long pants not dragging, possibly walking with better posture, and did I mention it makes our legs look good?

Disadvantages --- pain! Feet, ankles, shins, and calves are potential pain areas. It also takes practice to walk in heels and so potentially difficult to go long distances with. But as a comfortable alternative, there are many fantastic flats that can be worn on a night out on the town! It's all about the right shapes, fabrics, and embellishments.

If you are going to go with a closed toe shoe, stick to narrower shapes. Also stay away from flats that are too rounded. A pointy, square, or more oval rounded shoe will work with skirts, dresses, capris, minis, and pants.

Look for flats with patent, metallic, satin, and velvet fabrics. The idea is to give a little luxury to your feet! Going out at night calls usually calls for more glam in an outfit and that is also included in your choice of shoes.

Lastly flats with embellishment are a great option as well. Whether it be jeweled, ruffles, bows, or chains these add an extra glimmer to your feet that say hey, I don't wear this everyday! The trick is to not go overboard or else it can look tacky. In this case, less is more.

    Old Navy Ankle Strap Sandals

Cotton canvas ankle strap with adjustable snap in back is combined with a simple strap across the toe to create a shoe that's versatile and stylish. Rubber sole ensures you won't miss a step walking from the cabana to the pool.

currently lusting after these for the continued hot summer months! this is a great alternative to the trendy gladiator sandal flats...though im thinking about whether or not i actually like those enough to buy a pair.

    miu miu spring flats

miu miu spring flats are beautiful! I adore the color pallete (especially the dusty rose, sigh so gorgeous!!!), the various shapes and structures, the materials, and I can go on and on. it's interesting to see a designer's vision really come alive and it was quite evident in this spring line. Most of the shoes I loved instantly, but some were definately much more visually out there.

    Leather Flats$450.00

aesthetically this is a beautiful shoe. but can i actually pull this off walking down the street? I'm not too sure. lol.

    Flower motif flats $450.00

these (above) I believe are a much more wearable version of the large flower flat. i know id feel just like a pixie walking down the street in these.

    Canvas Mary Janes$395.00

    Whips Degrade Ballet with Bow$495.00

    Raso Shine Ballet Flat$540.00

    Sam Edelman Capri Flats

Textured ballet-inspired flat is secured around the ankle with a thin strap and lined in a bold leopard print.
    Leather upper/synthetic lining/rubber sole.

this is a really gorgeous flat to have to fall time (though it once again doesn't quite feel like it in DC!). this works with a pretty dress of various textures and colors (blacks, browns, olive, tweeds, wool, etc etc...) and works for dresses, skirts, shorts and pants! the color makes this shoe incredibly versitile and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

    oh old navy!

I am head over heels gaga for these super cute shoes from old navy!!!!! And the best part is? They all cost a whopping $19.50!!! Thats right ladies! I'm intending to make away with at least one of these babies before the end of the weekend!!!!

zebra print - a nice patterned way to wear black and white which is incredibly versitile EVERY season. when is black and white not in? NEVER! plus it's just fun piece to wear.

i was so incredibly obsessed with silver flats this weekend. but i couldn't find one that i like enough to spend at least $40 on. and then VOILA! i find these!!! i love the quilted toe patteren that gives this shoe the extra oomph from just plain silver flats. i've been into the cap-toe for awhile now.

oh graciousness...i adore these flats to death. i am determined to purchase these this weekend. there's just no question. i love the patent raspberry color (i have a perfect shade of lipstick and necklace to go with it!) i can just imagine wearing these with black capris and jeans and it will make the whole look just pop!

these are such femenine looking shoes, i love them! not crazy about the beading ontop of the shoe, but can you imagine wearing a white summer dress with these? gorgeous!

    Georgio Armani Bow d'Orsay Flat

so sorry i've been out for awhile. i just started a new job and i've been training these past couple of weeks! if there's one thing that i've learned at this new job is that comfortable shoes are such a must!!! whether it be flats or heels, if your on your feet all day you need comfort. but hey, comfort doesn't mean ugly shoes! there are tons of great shoes that are stylishly fabulous.

i'm current in love with these Georgio Armani flats available at neimanmarcus.com but at $630 it's a bit too much for my pockets. :) it is artfully made in italy with black patent leather, white leather piping and stiching, buckled ankle strap and a flat heel (best of all!)
