Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society. ~Mark Twain
i have to agree with Mr. Twain there.
L reccently met with his tailors that come from Hong Kong every couple of months to the area to get his suit re-fitted. It's the first time he's getting a custom suit made so we're pretty eager to see how the final product will look. He scored a great buy though a couple of weeks back too at Bennetton where they had a suit sale for the weekend and walked away with one charcoal gray suit and a pair of black pants.
We have been discussing men's suits for awhile now and I've been doing my own research in what's really my ideal for a sharp modern suit. L and I agree the the european style is the way to go too. He's a fan to Zara's slim fitting button up shirts, but still feel that their suits are way too big. I agree.
Italian suits are probably best suited for his body type and the fit that he is looking for. They have narrower waits that just look more fitted to the body.
Below is an image of a British style suit that I think looks pretty great (photo taken from the Sartorialist). I think this suit fits pretty well.

I am attempting to look for some more images of well-fitting suits. Celebrity-wise I think Josh Hartnett wears his suits very well. L says that its because Josh is tall and super skinny that he can really pull of the slim suits and the skinny ties.
on another un-related post my favorite thing to do while riding the metro to work is people watch. it's always so interesting to get inspiration from what other people are wearing. two weeks ago there was a woman dressed superbly in a floral red and white printed skirt, a crisp white button up shirt, and a smart red jacket with matching red pumps! i couldn't stop noticing how put together and gorgeous she looked! she probably wasn't even THAT pretty, but her outfit was smashing. It takes a lot for anyone to wear that kind of red and she pulled it off flawlessly.
how you dress does tell a lot about yourself.
