Wearing last week?

This was an outfit from last weekend when it got a cold 33 degrees again. This teetering of cold to warm weather is probably the most challenging time to dress and not feel schlumpy. Speaking of schlumpy, I wish I didn't hate ironing, but I do. I have a handy steamer to dewrinkle as many of my button up shirts as possible, still I admit that I don't use it as often as I should. When I see crisp tops on women it makes me a teensy bit jealous at how much more put together they look compared to my schlumpy wrinkled number. If only I could be more bothered by it to actually iron. So I buy more forgiving fabrics as much as possible (like jersey, I love jersey!).

Last last week I finally gave in to my biggest purchase as of late --- a black leather jacket. I've been wanting one since feasting my eyes on a Rick Owens one and after much sleuthing came upon the Rezrekshn leather zip-up jacket from Victoria's Secret. This is my first purchase from VS online and I really debated for over four months whether or not to get it. Finally I succumbed and took the plunge when it went on sale from $218 to $199. After using a 30% discount code I got it for $197. I LOVE it. At first I thought that I'd like it to be a little bit tighter around the arms, but the more I wear it the more I love exactly how it fits on me (I am wearing an XS). It looks good both zipped up and down contrary to some reviews I had read that complained it looked weird down. But it looks great and truly a worthy investment since Rick Owens is still way outside my price range. I'll post pictures soon.

c'est magnifique!

French actress Audrey Tautou looked smashing at the Coco Avant Chanel premiere last night. The trend of the little cropped leather jacket and beautiful dress continues!!! Sigh, this just re-ignited my lust for my own LBLJ. damn you bad economy!!!!!

The black and white floral print dress was from Chanel's (naturally) Spring 2009 Couture collection.

Her pixie cut goes beautifully with the dress to accentuate her shoulders. If I could look like this, I'd chop off my hair too.

feeling cool in the cold weather

With my recent obsession with Twilight still in full swing, I found myself looking at pictures of Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson during their interview on the Today Show. Kristen was wearing a fantastic tweed dress with black tights. But what REALLY caught my eye was a picture of them outside talking to fans. Kristen had put on the coolest looking black leather bomber jacket I've seen in a long time. It had a hood too which was an extra for me. After looking at more pictures I saw that she had worn that exact same jacket again to a film festival in Italy with a gorgeous white dress underneathe and it looked much better than even a similar look worn by Mary Kate Olsen and Anne Hathaway a little while back.

So last night I started surfing online for my own little leather jacket. L disagreed with me and feels that leather jackets look really dated. But there were so many beaauuutiful ones out there!

Today on a mini-browsing expedition I found something that suit my "I want a jacket that makes me look cool, maybe a little rock and roll even" mentality as well as my pocket book. I compromised and found an awesome little cropped black wool bomber jacket. Upon trying it on I realized that I really liked the style more so than the leather. While of course having the perfect leather bomber jacket would have been wonderful, having a wool bomber jacket was awesome as well. The best part? Yea it was only $40 (thank you Forever21!). I checked the website and it doesn't seem to be available online anymore. I only saw 2 of them at the store and it must by my moment to purchase. :)

BUT if I were going to get a LBLJ, this one from Dolce Vita is at the top of my list:
