GAP vs. BCBG JACKET WAR!

I am a HUGE HUGE jacket person. This is the one consistent piece of clothing that I have been obsessed with since a little girl. I love jackets and if you look into my closet, you will see one too many, from winter coats, to spring trenches, to blazers, to biker jackets...well you get the picture. I'm always in search of the perfect all occasion piece that is comfortable and stylish at the same time.

Right now I'm obsessed with these two below. The first one is from the GAP. It's a puffer jacket, but the design feels Chanel-ish to me. The second one is from BCBG and I love it so much because it reminds me my other coveted love - a Rick Owens leather number. SIGH. But anyways, I've tried on the BCBG one in person and it is like down comforter hugging you!!! It was sooooo awesome. BUT it also costs $168. The Gap is $98.

So if you were me, which one would you get?

is it a jacket? or a sweater?

im always on the lookout for cropped jackets that I can wear all year round that can be both dressed up and dressed down. last week i found one at H&M that is awesome and has wonderful detailing for a great price ($34).

This is a great piece to have in your closet because it can be worn at work as a great substitute for a blazer. Because it's supposed to be a sweater as well it is incredibly comfortable and snuggly. The sweater/jacket really blends the best of both worlds together.

My favorite perk is that I can wear it under a heavy wool coat and not feel like a stuffed sausage (the way I normally do when I'm wearing a heavier sweater, like THIS ONE).

feeling cool in the cold weather

With my recent obsession with Twilight still in full swing, I found myself looking at pictures of Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson during their interview on the Today Show. Kristen was wearing a fantastic tweed dress with black tights. But what REALLY caught my eye was a picture of them outside talking to fans. Kristen had put on the coolest looking black leather bomber jacket I've seen in a long time. It had a hood too which was an extra for me. After looking at more pictures I saw that she had worn that exact same jacket again to a film festival in Italy with a gorgeous white dress underneathe and it looked much better than even a similar look worn by Mary Kate Olsen and Anne Hathaway a little while back.

So last night I started surfing online for my own little leather jacket. L disagreed with me and feels that leather jackets look really dated. But there were so many beaauuutiful ones out there!

Today on a mini-browsing expedition I found something that suit my "I want a jacket that makes me look cool, maybe a little rock and roll even" mentality as well as my pocket book. I compromised and found an awesome little cropped black wool bomber jacket. Upon trying it on I realized that I really liked the style more so than the leather. While of course having the perfect leather bomber jacket would have been wonderful, having a wool bomber jacket was awesome as well. The best part? Yea it was only $40 (thank you Forever21!). I checked the website and it doesn't seem to be available online anymore. I only saw 2 of them at the store and it must by my moment to purchase. :)

BUT if I were going to get a LBLJ, this one from Dolce Vita is at the top of my list:

GAP goodness

a few weekends ago my mom, sister and I made our way to the Leesburg Pike outlets where I found a soft grey peacoat sweater that reminded me of a less expensive mike & chris hoodie. I haven't bought too many things from GAP since the design vs. retail price just doesn't seem worth it. but upon finding this sweater for $40 it screamed buy me, buy me now.


today i found myself wandering over to the GAP website and clicked on their romantic collection which has the text: sweet, polished vibe with a casual vibe. The color pallete consists mainly of pinks, creams, khakis, bluish-grays, and whites. Materials include cottons, jersey and silk.


My favorite piece from this collection is the cropped bomber jacket for $68.


A chunky, textured basketweave is the perfect counterpoint to the great feminine details, like puff sleeves and a cropped length. An unexpected, edgy belt rounds out the look.

The ruffled cami in Nude Rose is also a wonderfully soft and feminine piece.

off post: the outerwear obsession

whenever I shop for clothes I always think of a particular story or situation wherein I get to wear the piece and look fabulous. case in point, a recent purchase at Club Monaco of a top that had gorgeous strap detailing and I was even more thrilled because it was the last XS and it was on sale. It was meant to be!

I have an upcoming event that I will be attending early this summer, which will have me see people I haven't seen since college. And that means I need to look extra fabulous. That means I need to be disciplined in doing those workouts and I need to drink more water. More importantly I have an excuse to shop even more. Haha!

That ties into my reccent obsession --- outerwear. Jackets more specifically. I've been hunting for shrunken, structured, well-fitting jackets for the past few months. I've had some luck, but as it seems I stumbled onto Abigail Adam's peahoodie. It's made of sweatshirt material but styled like a classic short peacoat. I was beyond thrilled. Really really beyond thrilled and am currently eagerly awaiting my latest purchase. This is perfect as a layering piece for winter time, and even more perfect for sitting in a cold airplane cabin when you want something soft, warm and snuggly and yet look structured. Yes I'm planning to wear this at the airport for this summer's event.

On another note, I have lots of clothes and shoes I need to sell. AAGH! where to sell is the real question.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!! I am in love with Ellen Pompeo's little black jacket!!!! any ideas on who this belongs too?

in my quest to find the perfect little black jacket, this comes pretty close to what ive been looking for. i'd like it to be a little bit more fitted, but perhaps its because ellen is teeeny tiny that the jacket looks a little big on her. otherwise tho, it hits perfectly on the hips and i actually like the sleeves to be a bit longer so i can tuck my fingers in them when its cold.
